- Consider having only friends on Facebook-downside less business use.
- Never open email from an unknown sender
- Don’t post your full date of birth or other private information on Social websites
- Don’t list names of your family on these sites
- Don’t list job title and location, hobbies, likes/dislikes.
- Don’t list banking information
- Before clicking on a website examine the URL. Watch for slight misspellings. UPS emails are false.
- Consider a stand alone computer for online banking.
- Use a key code authentication security device.
- Explorer may be the least secure browser.
- Regularly change passwords.
- Don’t use the same password for everything.

- Scan your system every week at a minimum.
- Review anti-virus and firewall logs weekly.
- Think like a thief.
- Create an internet security Officer in your business.
- Make sure your insurance covers Cyber theft.
- Encourage/establish incident reporting method for staff.
- Have an active security policy in your business.
- What if you are attacked-report to your bank, local police, FBI, Internet Crime complaint center
- If you buy on line have a separate credit card with a low limit to reduce your exposure.
- Make sure your home insurance includes Identity Fraud coverage.
- Use encryptions for sensitive data passed over the internet.
