  1. Consider having only friends on Facebook-downside less business use.
  2. Never open email from an unknown sender
  3. Don’t post your full date of birth or other private information on Social websites
  4. Don’t list names of your family on these sites
  5. Don’t list job title and location, hobbies, likes/dislikes.
  6. Don’t list banking information
  7. Before clicking on a website examine the URL.  Watch for slight misspellings.  UPS emails are false.
  8. Consider a stand alone computer for online banking.
  9. Use a key code authentication security device.
  10. Explorer may be the least secure browser.
  11. Regularly change passwords.
  12. Don’t use the same password for everything.
  13. Have a threat analysis performed.  (Qualys.com)
  14. Scan your system every week at a minimum.
  15. Review anti-virus and firewall logs weekly.
  16. Think like a thief.
  17. Create an internet security Officer in your business.
  18. Make sure your insurance covers Cyber theft.
  19. Encourage/establish incident reporting method for staff.
  20. Have an active security policy in your business.
  21. What if you are attacked-report to your bank, local police, FBI, Internet Crime complaint center
  22. If you buy on line have a separate credit card with a low limit to reduce your exposure.
  23. Make sure your home insurance includes Identity Fraud coverage.
  24. Use encryptions for sensitive data passed over the internet.
