The economy isn’t supported solely by the NAS by any means. Corpus Christi is also where the original headquarters of Whataburger was found until it moved to San Antonio. The company still has a large footprint in Corpus Christi, however.

In addition, the city is home to CHRISTUS Spohn Health Systems, which employs 5,400 people locally. The Corpus Christin Independent School Distrust is the next largest employer with just over 5,100 jobs. H-E-B comes in third at about 5,000 jobs and Bay Ltd. is next at 2,100 jobs.

Corpus Christi is also home to Stripes Convenience Stores and AEP Texas. Both are major employers and offer many jobs to local residents.
